F-ISH IS TWO YEARS OLD

F-ISH occupies a unique position both notionally and physically. The first space of its kind in Hastings situated in the middle of the busiest street in the town centre. The Street comprises of a mixture of Bars, Cafes, retail units and the two Creative Media centers. Importantly the street is located within America Ground. Senior Curator Simon Hedges grew up in Hastings, well known for founding the groundbreaking Underwood St Galleries – key in the Hoxton and Shoreditch success story. Hedges also played his part in major collections such as the Saatchi gallery at Underwood St and Underwood Audio.

This lens based selection taken from the last two years of main programme represents the first stages of F-ISH eye – new media programme F-ISH EYE is a new media and film commissioning and professional development umbrella, part of the F-ISH Creative Trust.

This is the first one-year program at F-ISH gallery, developed by the newly formed project team.

 

Curatorial brief – the work will:

Explore the human condition, and attempt to locate the commonalities between both groups and individuals divided by age, belief and economic restrictions. The F-ISH eye program will explore the hopes, fears and aspirations that connect us all.

This program is about being able to bridge the voids between isolating social conditions and cultural division. The four new works in this the first F-ISH eye program are all describing a part of this equitation.

We are all the same but different.

We are all present together – yet can exist in complete absence and isolation.
