CONVERSATION WITH PETER WALDRON & SIMON HEDGES 6PM-8PM_11TH MARCH

F-ISH is proud to present this new body of work – painted in Crete last summer in response to a series of meetings and long conversations with Peter. A point of departure can be found in the 1971 drawing – part of the F-ISH show. Peters architectural structures have merged with a fluid and more organic line latticed through the framework of a highly graphic grid.

In the 1970ʼs i contributed to the “ big paintings for public Spaces” exhibition at the royal academy. The aim of the Exhibition was to interest industrialists and public bodies In placing large works for public benefit. Some 35 years Further on, with the help of simon hedges from the f-ish Gallery i have been given the oportunity to locate a Number of my large format works in new office Developements in hastings.

The ongoing “kritikos” and “cubi” series of paintings have Been developed over the past two years. They comprise Numerous canvases forming modular works which can Serve as studies - as they may be extended or contracted To suit a particular space.

I see my work as being a continuation and development of Predominately western painting with obvious references Within my work to many of the key players. Besides arriving at a new place within my work i am Constantly reassured by an illusive familiarity as if a “new Place revisited”.

I want my work to posses lasting dignity, yet at the same Time, like life, i want my work to be serious fun. To me my paintings only come alive and “perform” when they Are made available to a wide audience.
